CLA Emsden Award 2026 – Passing on the trophy
On Thursday 10 July, Thanet Earth was proud to host the CLA Emsden Trophy Presentation and Drinks Reception, welcoming members of Kent’s farming community for an evening celebrating environmental stewardship and sustainable agriculture.
As the 2025 recipient of the prestigious CLA Emsden Trophy, it was a privilege to welcome guests to our site and share some of the biodiversity and conservation initiatives that contributed to our award-winning approach. Approximately 10% of the Thanet Earth site is dedicated to landscape and wildlife, including restored native calcareous grassland and native hedgerows that support a wide range of plant and animal species.
The event was hosted by Mike Sims, CLA South East Regional Director, with an introduction from Charles Tassell of Tassell Bros. (Ulcombe) Ltd.
Guests took part in a guided tour of the site, visiting areas of environmental significance and our pepper glasshouse, where they had the opportunity to learn more about our growing methods and ask questions about our operations.
The evening culminated in the presentation of the CLA Emsden Trophy.
Congratulations to this year’s winners, Peter Lingham & Partners. While representatives from the business were unable to attend, the trophy was proudly accepted on their behalf by Maz Montgomerie of Court Farm.
Thank you to the CLA and everyone who attended for making it such an enjoyable evening. We are proud to support and celebrate the environmental achievements being delivered across Kent’s farming community.
