This was prime arable land! Are you covering it in concrete?
The land was indeed used for intensive brassica farming. However, farming on that scale requires significant fertilisers and pesticides, delivered straight onto the land, with residue run-off uncontainable. Our glasshouses stand on dirt floors – only vehicle routes will require concrete surfacing. In fact, less than 1% of the area under glass will be concrete.

One of the conditions of the planning consent for Thanet Earth is that the land must be capable of being restored back to farmland should the Thanet Earth operation ever cease.
