Dutch-based Rainbow Growers were some of the first to seek independence following the break up of the Dutch national auction system in the early 90's. Pioneers in development and innovation, they were the first to move to central processing and direct sales to overseas customers. A state of the art facility was constructed in 2000 and extended again in 2005.
The Rainbow Group arrived at Thanet Earth in May 2008 to begin construction of their 8.5 hectare greenhouse; the largest single pepper greenhouse in the UK. It was planted shortly before Christmas 2008 and they began harvesting peppers from Thanet Earth in March 2009. Their season will continue through until November when they clear and replant for the following season.
