Brothers Cor and Dirk van der Kaaij have established Kaaij Greenhouses UK Ltd as the UK arm of their long-established Dutch operation, Kaaij Group. Kaaij Group is one of the most successful tomato production companies in Holland. Their focus on speciality varieties, particularly ‘on the vine' has seen their production area grow to almost 44 hectares, 20 of which produce 52 weeks a year with the aid of artificial winter lighting. Not content with limiting their operation to Holland they are also major shareholders in Cualin Quality, a 25-hectare Spanish operation that compliments their winter home cropping.
The team recently moved their headquarters to a brand new automated facility in De Lier near Rotterdam at the heart of the Dutch horticultural industry.
At Thanet Earth, Kaaij Greenhouses UK Ltd own and operate the UK's largest single unit greenhouse. They grow a full range of 10 different speciality vine tomatoes.
